changing the way you think

"Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform
you into a new person by changing the way you think." Romans 12:2

Do you prefer that you be right, or that you be happy?

The Golden Hour
By: Brian Tracy

You become what you think about most of the time.

And the most important part of each day is what you think about at the beginning of that day.

Start Your Day Right

Take 30 minutes each morning to sit quietly and to reflect on your goals.

You'll find when you read the biographies and autobiographies of successful men and women that almost everyone of them began their upward trajectory to success when they begin getting up early in the morning and spending time with themselves.

Feed Your Mind With Positive Ideas

This is called the Golden Hour.

The first hour sets the tone for the day.

The things that you do in the first hour prepare your mind and set you up for the entire day.

During the first thirty to sixty minutes, take time to think and review your plans for the future.

Here are four things that you can do during that quiet time in the morning.

Number one is to review your plans for accomplishing your goals and change your plans if necessary.

Number two is think of better ways to accomplish your goals.

As an exercise, assume that the way you're going about it is totally wrong and imagine going about it totally differently.

What would you do different from what you're doing right now?

Number three, reflect on the valuable lessons that you have learned and are learning as you move toward your goals.

Number four, calmly visualize your goal as a reality.

Close your eyes, relax, smile, and see your goal as though it were already a reality.

Rewrite your major goals everyday in the present tense.

Rewrite them as though they already existed.

Write "I earn X dollars."

"I have a net worth of X."

"I weigh a certain number of pounds."

This exercise of writing and rewriting your goals everyday is one of themost powerful you will ever learn

Eliminate your time-wasters

In order to control you time, you have to know what you are doing with it
now.

The best way to determine this is to do an exercise that takes a maximum of a half an hour a day for 10 days.
You will not have to go on a crash diet or run three miles a day, but I guarantee that by the last day you will have grown.
You will look the same, but you will have grown (inside, of course).
The insight you gain from evaluating your time usage is what you can base you time management goals on.

Directions: Make 10 copies of this worksheet. For the next 10 days, answer questions at the end of each workday.
Be as detailed as possible. Try to state specifically how you will make the next day better.

1. What went right today? Why?

2. What went wrong today? Why?

3. What time did I start on my top priority task? Why? Could I have started earlier?

4. What patterns do I see in my time logs?

5. What part of my day was most productive? Least productive?

6. What were my three biggest time wasters today?

7. Which activities need more time? Which need less time?

8. Beginning tomorrow, what will I do to make better use of my time?

Here are 10 ways to eliminate and prevent worry in our personal and
professional lives:

10. Focus on positive possibility."Webster's definition is "capable of happening, existing, capable of being true.

9. Embrace change.Change is happening whether you want it to or not. You are either going forward or backward, you're never staying the same. The only thing constant in this world is change. Stop worrying about it, feel the fear and do it anyway. Two great books "Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway" by Susan Jeffers, "Who Moved My Cheese" by Ken Blanchard.

8. Add structure... Disorganization is the source of many worries, e.g. "I can't find it", "I'm confused", or "I don't know what to do next". Structure provides security and enhances self-confidence. For many of you structure means loss of freedom. Quite the contrary, you actually have more freedom when structure is in place. It may mean something as simple as using a daily "To-Do List" or it can be organization chart for your business to provide visible structure and useful information to everyone in the organization.

7. Get the facts... Confusion is a root cause of worry. It has been said that half the worry in the world is caused by people trying to make decisions before they have sufficient knowledge on which to base a decision. Replace time that would have been spent on worry with a search for wisdom.

6. Seek simplicity... We've all heard the term KISS (Keep It Simple Silly). Simplicity means single-ness of purpose. Simplicity creates trust. Trust eliminates worry.

5. Think, talk and act cheerfully... Author John Maxwell says, "Your attitude determines your altitude." It is very difficult to worry if you are being cheerful, saying positive words, helping others, and just being grateful for all you have.

4. Focus on purpose. Focus on your activities and your life's purpose.not on "What's going to happen if..". Your life's purpose is the WHY behind your goal. Align your goals with your personal values and life's purpose. This will cause you to focus on action and not worry. Achieving meaningful results in every aspect of your life reduces worry.

3. Exercise... Crowd worry out of your mind by keeping busy. Read a good book. Work out at the gym. Take a walk. Start a new project. When someone asked Winston Churchill if he was worried about his tremendous responsibilities during WWII, he replied, "I'm too busy. I have no time to worry."

2. Be a person of integrity... If you are living a life of integrity, you eliminate a source of worry. People worry about getting caught doing something bad. They don't mind being caught doing good.

1. Pray... Prayer is the number one eliminator of worry. You may be great at multi-tasking, but you'll find it impossible to pray and worry at the same time. Prayer transfers your personal and professional burdens to God. And yes, there is a God. If you have ever witnessed a birth of a baby and a close of an escrow, you know there is a God. God can handle our problems a lot better than we can. I've noticed that most people resort to prayer only after everything else has failed. Prayer actually works best when put into action before a need exists.

When you look fear in the face, you gain strength, courage and confidence. You stop being a coward and start succeeding.

Each time you face a fear, it gets easier. You continue to confront the fear and it eventually disappears.

When you face a fear, and act despite the fear, you have courage.

Confronting your fears not only makes you more successful, it makes you happier.

"To be happy, one only must be able to confront, which is to say, experience those things that are." -- L. Ron Hubbard

Cleanse the clutter!

Tired of all the junk in your life? If you often find yourself cleaning up clutter or looking for more space in the closet to shove all your stuff in, it might be time to give a wholehearted effort to cleaning all the junk that’s collected over the years. Spend a little time this weekend going through your home and you might realize that most of what fills your drawers is just taking up space. Once your living space is clutter-free and simplified you may find your mind is more relaxed and comfortable too.
